NORTH BAY, Ont. — The North Bay Battalion staff once again is running both the Battalion Hockey School and Elite Conditioning Camp, scheduled Aug. 22-26 at Memorial Gardens.
The Battalion Hockey School runs Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features three age categories, namely 7-8, 9-10 and 11 and over. Fifteen spots are still available for the camp.
“It’s an excellent week to mingle with Battalion players and coaches and a terrific way to make new friends,” said John Dean, assistant coach of the Ontario Hockey League club.
Camp participant Caleb Dawson, 10, agreed with Dean.
“It’s a lot of fun. I’ve done it for two years. I really like the players. They’re really nice, and I like the dryland training too. I can’t wait to do it again.”
The Elite Conditioning Camp for male AAA players and female A or AA players born from 1999 to 2003 runs from 7-10 p.m. There are five openings for girls and 10 for boys.
“This camp is a great opportunity for players to learn from the best,” said Battalion head coach Stan Butler. “The camp closely emulates what an OHL player would experience during the season, with on-ice skills development followed by off-ice conditioning.”
